Carpe Diem - Seize the Day

Songs. They have many meanings and everyone relates to them differently. Depending on what your life is, each song may mean something different, from the literal to something deeper. One song I've been jamming out to lately is “Come Along” by Vicci Martinez (see lyrics below.)

The reason why this song speaks to me is one...it's catchy and has a fun beat, but the lyrics. They can be interpreted in many different ways from “make a statement, take a stand” in the political sense or also in the “own your own life sense.” For me...I take it as, “own your life.”

WE must all own our own lives. Whose living our lives, but ourselves. So, we must do what we want and “seize the day.” Again...that quote! I say it, and think “Dead Poets Society” with Robin Williams saying, “Carpe Diem!” – SEIZE THE DAY. This is another reason I love this song. It practically screams, “seize the day!” It mentions, “time flies, take your chance...” and it's true. Time does fly! We do need to take our chance; whether it be in terms of a relationship or perhaps hiking a 14'er that you've always wanted to hike... The point is, we need to always take the chance, because the moment we do, we will be so happy! Happy that we're being bold, and happy for what can come of it. WE never know what may happen, unless we try.

Most likely we will “see what it's like to be free;” experiencing all that we're meant to, and striving to always seek more. We would be cheating ourselves out of some pretty amazing life experiences if we lived life in the shadows or scared of new things...

That's the conclusion I come to anyway...I take this song as a sign to travel, and I plan on it. I hope you stick around!! This blog may turn into a travel blog in the future.
